New weight restriction begins in R.M. of Wilton next week

Trucks travelling through the R.M. of Wilton will have to follow new weight restrictions on Monday.

After midnight, the municipality moves to Wilton Rural Standard, which is similar to Sask secondary weight. The 85 per cent restriction includes 34,000 kilograms for a sixteen-wheeler truck  42,000 kilograms for a 24 Wheeler. Travel on roads with permanent weight restrictions is still permitted at the posted limits. All overweight permits and Restricted Road Access Letters of Permission remain at 85 per cent. Cancellation of these may occur if further bans are enacted.

People moving large trucks through the area are also reminded that the steer axle weight will also be counted towards gross vehicle weight penalties. Vehicles moving above the posted weight, or needing a tri-steer permit must get approval from Northwest Municipal Services beforehand.

Anyone looking for more information on the restrictions can be found on the NWMS website.
