Unemployment rate drastically different between regions

Lloydminster’s unemployment rates have changed drastically in different provinces last month. Both sit higher than their provincial rates, though more starkly in Alberta.

Alberta’s region of Camrose-Drumheller has risen to an unemployment rate of 9.7 per cent. This is nearly a whole per cent higher than last month and currently sits as the highest in the province. It’s much higher than the provincial rate of 7.2 per cent.

In Saskatchewan, the region of Prince Albert and Northern Saskatchewan is seeing lower unemployment. It’s dropped to 7.1 per cent from a rate of 7.9 just last month. It also remains higher than the provincial rate of 5.6 per cent.

Saskatchewan’s rate fell just below the Canadian rate of 5.8 per cent last month. In Alberta, employment overall was little changed in March as gains in full-time work were offset by losses in part-time work. Employment in the province was virtually unchanged compared with March 2018.
