The Saskatchewan Summer Games are in need of sponsorships ahead of the 2020 edition. The games will be in Lloydminster in just over a year, from July 26 until August 1.

The 2020 SSG is expected to see more than 1,800 athletes and coaches, families and friends. With a total expected number of guests of over 7,000 over the week, 2020 SSG is expected to boost the local economy. The cost to run the games is expected to be $2.3 million, and while the SSG Host Society has received some funding, they’re hoping the community is willing to help.

Games manager for the SSG Host Society, Nicole Clow, says sponsorships help out more than just the SSG operations. The Border City hosting the SSG means a number of legacy features will be left for the community to use once the games are finished.

“We’re doing a lot of upgrades to facilities, and purchasing some equipment that will be left behind for local sports groups and recreation users to use. So a portion of that also goes towards those capital projects as well,” says Clow.

The SSG Host Society has a number of ranges that organizations, businesses and community members can accommodate. Packages for event sponsorships, medal sponsorships, sponsorships for the 1,200 volunteers and naming rights for the athlete village are just a few examples. The Host Society also thinks that if there’s anything the community is particularly interested in sponsoring, they’re sure they can find it for them. Kevin Kusch, chair of the 2020 SSG Host Society is looking forward to partnering with the community.

“We look forward to the opportunity of being reunited with past sponsors and the new alike. Thank you for contributing to the growth of Lloydminster, the Games, and most importantly, the athletes,” says Kusch. Information on how to sponsor the games can be found online at www.saskgames.ca.
