Lloydminster fire crews respond to multiple incidences

The city’s fire department has had a busy week. Wednesday afternoon saw a fire in the northeast part of the city. Fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly, and no occupants were in the house at the time of the fire.

On Friday, they responded to a large commercial structure fire in the late afternoon. A person was inside and sustained minor injuries from the fire, and they were transported to the hospital. Fire crew members were on scene for the rest of the evening and until the next morning. The building housed Cujo Conditioning in the northeast part of the city, and the structure is unsalvagable.

A provincial investigator is coming to the city to determine the cause of the fire. On Saturday evening, another fire occurred at a single-family home in the western part of the city. Upon arriving at the house fire there was heavy smoke and flame throughout the roof. Fire Chief Jordan Newton says that the duty crew on shift was nearby and noticed the blaze before the 911 calls came in. The family made it out of the house safely while multiple pets were left inside, which Newton says were able to be removed safely.

The house fire has done significant damage to the structure and Newton says both of the houses on each side. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but none of the fires is deemed to be suspicious. Newton adds that they aren’t related in nature and look like separate events, but they will continue to investigate.
