Counties of Minburn, Two Hills issue fire restrictions

Two more Alberta counties have issued fire restrictions amid dry conditions. The County of Two Hills will not be issuing burn permits until further notice. The county says that fast-melting snow and more prominent dried grass has made the fire hazard is moderate at this time.

It recommends that all previously issued burn permits be checked and that people ensure burns are put out to not cause a spring grass fire. Fire pits, warming fires, barbeques and burn barrels will be allowed but must be supervised to ensure they don’t cause a secondary fire.

The County of Minburn No. 27 says that no new fire permits will be issued. All existing permit holders are asked to ensure their existing burn permits are extinguished. Fires for cooking or warming purposes are still permitted.
