City promoting workplace safety with MOSH week

Lloydminster is encouraging a higher awareness around workplace safety, health and wellness for city employees.

Over the annual Mind on Health and Safety (MOSH) week, from May 1-3, the city’s Health, Safety and Wellness staff are facilitating a three-day event. All city employees will get the opportunity to attend safety-focused presentations and interactive demonstrations. Manager of the city’s Health, Safety and Wellness department, Megan Coulter, is happy to promote workplace safety and wellness among city staff members.

“We’re pleased to once again affirm our commitment to workplace health and safety. Ensuring our people return home safe and healthy at the end of each work day is our main priority. We thank the partner organizations and individuals who contributed time and resources to enhance safety awareness for the City of Lloydminster team,” says Coulter.

On Wednesday, May 1, at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., keynote Bill Carr will speak at the Centennial Civic Centre on creating a culture of workplace safety. Carr believes the key ingredient in creating a culture of safety is growing a safety mindset that affects how we see the workplace and how we understand our responsibility to ourselves and our co-workers. MOSH Week activities also include information sessions on string trimmer and mower safety, meditation, emergency operations, nutrition, and more.
