UPDATE: Emergency crews remain on scene at the site of the vehicle collision on Highway 4. Weather conditions and visibility are slowing the removal of vehicles and debris. A 28-year-old woman has been killed in a two-vehicle collision south of Battleford. RCMP responded around 7:30 a.m. to the collision on Highway 4 near the Red Pheasant and Mosquito First Nations. Battlefords Fire and WPD also responded.

Initial investigation determined a car with two occupants was travelling north when a truck travelling west on a grid road failed to stop for a posted sign. It struck the car on the passenger side, and the 28-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s family has been notified and her name will not be released.

The area of Highway 4 remains closed for an ongoing investigation. Anyone travelling this section of Highway 4 is advised that traffic will be re-routed until this part of the investigation has been completed and all vehicles and debris have been removed. It’s expected that the highway will be open again at approximately 2 p.m. today.
