City contracts dust control and winter sanding for next 3 years

Lloydminster has secured a contractor for dust control and calcium supply for winter sanding for 2019 through to 2021. NSC Minerals Ltd. has been awarded the program for an estimated cost of $259,209.

The company will provide trucks to haul, deliver and apply liquid calcium chloride on various gravel roadways within Lloydminster as well as delivery to storage tanks during the winter. According to city council, they’re responsible for the quality control of the product they supply and the final gravel roadway surface treatment.

NSC Minerals bid the lowest cost for providing the services and scored well on other tests like product quality, equipment quality and staff requirements. The highest bid came in at more than $300K. It comes with estimated yearly costs of $82,294.50 for 2019, $86,403.00 for 2020 and $90,511.50 for 2021, plus applicable taxes
