Lloydminster gains a slight employment increase

Lloydminster saw a small employment increase in April compared to March. Both sides of the border city still share a drastic difference in unemployment rates. Both sides continue to sit higher than their provincial rates.

Alberta’s region of Camrose-Drumheller has dropped to an unemployment rate of 9.3 per cent. Although a drop from 9.7 in March it still is the highest rate highest in the province. The provinces overall rate drops .6 points to 6.7 per cent.

In Saskatchewan, the region of Prince Albert and Northern Saskatchewan continues to see lower unemployment. It’s slightly dropped to 7.0 per cent from a rate of 7.1 just last month. In February the region saw an unemployment rate of 7.9 per cent. It also still remains higher than the provincial rate of 5.7 per cent.

Saskatchewan’s rate slightly rose from 5.6 per cent last month. After two months of little change, Alberta’s rise in employment last month is mainly due to several services-producing industry jobs.
