The Bea Fisher colour run has a new date after a hail storm forced the event to be cancelled last Friday. The Colour Within Run has been rescheduled to take place on September 6th at Bud Miller Park.
“We wanted to find a date where people were back from vacation, they were available, summer holidays we know people will be gone quite a bit. We think it will be early enough in the fall that there is still a pretty good chance that we will have pretty good weather at that time,” says Marketing and Business Development Coordinator Kim Crockett.
Participates who originally registered for the previous date are automatically registered for the new date. Anyone who won’t be able to make the run in September is eligible for a refund until June 28. The times set for the event still remain the same. Registration will begin at 5:30 PM, the race will kick off at 6:30 PM.
Crockett says although the weather wasn’t favourable a number of volunteers helped back up and some residents still wanted to compete in the run.
“I can’t say enough for those that still did come out. There was even some that came out at 6:30 PM when I think the worst of the hail has stopped but they were still willing to come out and just see if they can participate in some way, shape or form. That kind of enthusiasm told us that we need to make this happen again.”
The annual run is aiming to raise $250,000 to improve group homes in Lloydminster.
