City Hall provides update on budget consultation

The City of Lloydminster says their budget consultation is going well.

The city launched their interactive simulator tool Dollars and Sense two weeks ago, and so far have received 300 completed surveys.

Director of Finance Nicole Reineger says nothing has surprised her from the initial feedback.

“The trends are staying pretty much on par where I thought they would be,” Reineger said. “I think people are really supporting some of the great programs that we’re looking at. Public Safety is always a big thing on people’s mind… we’re getting some really good feedback.”

She also says that the early responses indicate that residents would be willing to pay higher taxes.

“I think there’s a little bit of an appetite for a little bit of an increase, but everybody’s being cautious on those numbers, which is what we expected,” she said. “I think that that’s important for everybody to get that appreciation that the numbers do flow up and down.”

The survey can be accessed at lloydminster.ca/budget. It closes September 25th.
