Maidstone RCMP responds to a rollover on Highway 16 which involved a stolen vehicle from Lloydminster.

Police responded to calls of an erratic driver that ended up rolling over after attempting to leave a ditch onto the eastbound lanes on Highway 16.

Officers say once they arrived a 25-year-old from Frog Lake was exiting the vehicle. Due to the use of a seatbelt and airbags, a fatal injury was prevented during the rollover.

RCMP says the vehicle had just been stolen from Lloydminster and driver impairment was a factor in the incident. Police thank drivers for allowing emergency crews to attend the scene while the highway remained temporarily closed.

More details will be released once they come in.
