City invites residents to Canada Day presented by MNP

The city is inviting residents to celebrate the nation’s 152nd anniversary during the annual Canada Day festivities at Bud Miller All Seasons Park on Monday, July 1, 2019. Following the 1 p.m. opening ceremonies at the Tim Hortons Main Stage (the amphitheatre) visitors will be treated to a wide variety of entertainment, including live local music, a farmers market, Bioclean Adventure Zone, food vendors, family activities and much more.

The 2019 Canada Day event is presented by title sponsor MNP. Lethal Motorsports and Renown Downhole Solution are presenting a freestyle motorcycle stunt show as the main attraction, at 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The Servus Credit Union Fireworks Show will begin at 11 p.m. Traffic controllers will be assisting with exiting the parking lot after the fireworks.

The main entrance to Bud Miller All Seasons Park will be closed for the day. Residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the event. Those arriving by vehicle are permitted to park at Lakeland College, Vic Juba Community Theatre and where available in residential areas. A two-way shuttle service, operating on 30-minute intervals, will be available at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Months of planning are coming to a head to bring celebrations happening across Canada to the Border City. MacKenzie Dow, recreation programmer for the BioClean Aquatic Centre, says her colleagues have worked hard to make Canada Day a success and she’s proud to stand by them.

“There has been a lot of work put in. It takes a big team of amazing people to pull off an event like this. It’s been a real honour working by them to bring this to the community,” says Dow. Residents are encouraged to use the #yllCanadaDay hashtag when sharing event-related posts on Twitter or Instagram.
