Service to stay uninterrupted as runway rehabilitation gets underway

Repairing the airport runway is set to begin Monday, July 22. No interruptions to service at the airport will be expected as Lloydminster, along with Integrated Airport Systems Ltd. and Central City Asphalt performs pavement overlay and crack repairs at the Lloydminster Airport.

The runway rehabilitation project focuses on minor and major crack repairs and runway, taxi and apron paving. The project will take place overnight and all equipment will be taken off the operational working zones by 9 a.m. each day. The airport will remain open and operational between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Unscheduled charter and general flight services will be allowed during scheduled opening times only.

Transport Canada, Nav Canada, Civil Aviation Safety Operations and other branches deemed necessary have been notified and will stay updated throughout the project. Residents are advised to follow marked detour routes and drive cautiously when passing construction crews. The project is expected to be completed by mid-August, weather pending.
