The Lloydminster SPCA is lowering adoption costs during Colonial Days in order to find adult cats a home.
Becca Lawrence says the SPCA is looking to add to the fun of Colonial Days for anyone looking for a new family member. She says adult cats may get overlooked in comparison to kittens when residents are looking to adopt.
“With adult cats, if you want something that is more low-key, chill, we can direct you in that way or if you want an adult cat with more kitten in it we can point you in that way too.”
Lawrence says the recent influx of cats is usually due to residents constantly travelling through the summer. She says space may become an issue as the shelter is currently packed compared to where they’d like to.
“Summertime is nice because if you are getting a garage, shop or barn cats, they can adapt to the seasons. You start them in the summertime and they get used to the gradual winter weather.”
All 18 cats available have been spayed or neutered, microchipped and all vaccinations are up-to-date. Adoptions fees have been reduced to $25 until Monday.
