Lloydminster Economic Development Corporation listed in Site Selection Magazine rankings

Lloydminster Economic Development Coporation has received national recognition.

Site Selection Magazine has just released their annual rankings, giving honourable mention to the organization as a Top Canadian Economic Development Group.

LEDC CEO Ward Read says he’s honoured to be recognized.

“It’s the first time we’ve received this sort of ranking, and looking at the list, it’s pretty darn good company,” Read said. “A lot of great communities across Canada, and I believe Charlottetown at mid [30,000] is the only community that’s kind of in our scope. Other than that, they’re all well over 100,000 [people], so we’re doing [well] to be in that company.”

Read also says he hopes to repeat the achievement next year.

“We’d like to keep getting our names out, and keep getting the community’s names out as well,” he said. “That’s one of the nice things with this magazine, Site Selections. It’s the most widely read industrial locating magazine in the world… To have Lloydminster [spoken] so highly of in that document – this is going out to tens of thousands of industrial investors around the world. So we’re going to hope that it will bring eyes back to our city.”

Read also says a large part of the thanks goes to his staff, the city, and other peer groups in the community.
