NDP candidate Duane Zaraska feels good about final phase of campaign

Lakeland NDP Candidate Duane Zaraska says he’s feeling good entering the final phase of the election campaign.

Zaraska says he’s been able to visit many of the riding’s communities, and says people have been telling him they want a change of government. Zaraska also says his party has a plan to improve the economy.

“We are supportive of the oil industry, it’s a falsity to say that we’re not supportive of that,” Zaraska said. “The [state of the] industry is not a government situation, it’s not the fault of any government right now, it’s a global crisis. That being said, we should be moving forward in different areas.

“We have a plan to kickstart the economy with an innovation tax credit, with an accelerated capital cost reduction, we want to stimulate small businesses. I think that’s very important, especially in the rural parts of Alberta. In Canada, small business employs 80% of our population, so we do want to support those small businesses, and that’s going to provide good jobs.”

Zaraska also says he’s looking forward to upcoming all-candidates forums taking place across the riding.

The election is October 19th.
