Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing localized flash flooding.

A band of showers set up from Lloydminster stretched across Alberta to Grande Prairie will continue to move south through the day. As the showers and cloud clears thunderstorms will develop along this line and move westward through the day and into the evening.

Severe thunderstorm watches may need to be expanded southward as thunderstorms develop.

Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes and heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
