UPDATE: The cemetery gates are expected to re-open by the end of Tuesday, July 30. In a statement, the city says that crews are working diligently to clean up the cemetery.
The city says the Lloydminster Cemetery, located north of the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre, is closed due to damages received during stormy weather from Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, 28.
Starting around 6 p.m. on Saturday and lasting throughout the night, Lloydminster and area was subjected to gusts of wind exceeding 40 km/h and received anywhere from 2-4 inches of rain. Updates on the status of the cemetery will be made available on the city’s website.
