New Flame and Oiler announced every Friday: Cassidy

Some might look forward to each Friday the most every week. In the Border City, Fridays are promising to be even better. Steven Cassidy, marketing manager of Boundary Ford, says that some surprises will be revealed at the end of each week.

“Friday is a great day, right,” jokes Cassidy. “We will have a new Calgary Flame and new Edmonton Oiler every Friday leading up to the event. That’s exciting stuff.”

The Boundary Battle of Alberta is set to sixteen alumni players from the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames to face-off in a fundraiser for the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation. Eight players on each team will be here in the Border City, with proceeds supporting the LRHF’s mental health initiative, Project Sunrise.

Currently, the Oilers see Marc Fistric and Louie Debrusk announced to represent northern Alberta. The Calgary Flames are sending alumni Jamie Macoun and Mike Commodore. Eight more players have yet to be announced leading up to the noon and 3 p.m. games at the Centennial Civic Centre on Saturday, September 28. It’s a message Cassidy wants to see shared to make a buzz for a great cause.

“Follow us, follow the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation. Any of our partners, anybody who wants to share, again let’s make this as viral as possible.”

Merchandise for the event is also available in support of the same cause. Iron Jet Promotions has opened an online portal to order blue or red BBOA shirts and bunnyhugs with proceeds also going towards Project Sunrise.
