Laverdiere homicide suspect victim injured in stabbing at Saskatoon prison

An 18-year-old suspect in the death of Tiki Laverdiere was injured after a stabbing at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre.

19-year-old Kihiw Jason George Fourstar and 22-year-old Jesse Edward Phillip Mackenzie, are charged with aggravated assault and possession of a homemade knife for a dangerous purpose. The two inmates were arrested and charged after the stabbing on August 22. Brent Checkosis remains in a hospital being treated for serious injury.

Brent Checkosis is facing three charges including accessory to murder after the fact. Checkosis is one of eight people charged in the death of Laverdiere.

Five people are facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Lavidiere who went missing at the beginning of May after attending a funeral in the North Battleford and Thunderchild First Nation area.
