Local farms are at a standstill due to the cool and wet weather this last week states the Saskatchewan Crop Report.
Unchanged from the previous week, 7 per cent of the crop is combined. This is behind the five-year average of 19 per cent for the time of year. Crops that are ready to be swathed and combined are sitting at 33 per cent.
Rainfall within the region was anywhere from 6mm of precipitation in North Battleford to 25mm in Prince Albert. Due to high humidity in some areas, crops are too wet to continue haying.
Cropland topsoil moisture is rated at 73 per cent adequate. Topsoil moisture rating for hay land and pasture is 77 per cent adequate. Shellbrook and North Battleford area is currently reporting that 44 per cent of cropland and 25 per cent of hay land and pasture is short topsoil moisture.
Farmers are waiting to continue harvesting, for that to happen there has to be several weeks of dry, warm weather. Currently, they are moving bales and cattle.
Within Saskatchewan, 18 per cent of crops are in the bin. This is up 11 percent, however this is still under the five-year average.
