Family free skate program returns to Lloydminster

The City of Lloydminster continues to offer free access to ice surfaces this year through Servus Credit Union partnership. The family free skate program began in 2016 as a pilot project to offer free skating spaces through 2019.

“The Servus Family Free Skate continues to be a popular recreational attraction for our residents and welcomed guests,” says Mayor Gerald Aalbers in a statement. “Activities such as this contribute to our overall health and wellness, and we thank Servus Credit Union for its ongoing support of active-living in Lloydminster.”

The 2019 Servus Family Free Skate will kick off with a launch event at the Servus Sports Centre on September 27. Bank staff will be present greeting visitors with free mittens and hot chocolate.

“Supporting free access for skating encourages physical fitness, but also helps people come together without spending a lot of money. We’re looking forward to seeing many Lloydminster youth and families return this year,” says Servus Credit Union District Manager Nazim Manji.
