Bobcats add goaltender ahead of weekend games

The Lloydminster Bobcats is adding another new player to the roster as part of their overhaul. The Bobcats have signed goaltender Josh Dias. Last season, Dias played for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons where he had a 0.896 save percentage.

Head Coach and General Manager Nigel Dube says Dias will blend into the team well as there are other former Oil Barons on the team.

“We played against him last year a few times in Fort McMurray and we know what he’s capable of. Having acquired a few other Fort McMurray Oil Barons in July, they knew Josh really well and spoke highly of his character as a person which is huge for our group as well.”

Nolen Coventry, Chad McLean and Gunner Kinniburgh have also made the switch from the Oil Barons to the Bobcats in July. Dias will be joining Garrett Larsen in the net.

“We’re excited about where he’s going to go. He competes really hard and works hard. He’s a good person on and off the ice and I think having Garrett Larsen along the ways as well will be good for our group. We look forward to see what they can do in tandem.”

Dias is heading into his first game with the Bobcats in back-to-back games against the Grande Prairie Storm on September 20 and 21. Dias has already faced the team in his last games as an Oil Baron.
