Woman charged for possession of taser during sobriety stop on Hwy. 16

A North Battleford woman is facing weapons charges for possession of a taser.

RCMP stopped a driver on a routine sobriety traffic stop on Highway 16 near Maidstone on October 10 at 2:30 p.m.

The officers smelled cannabis in the vehicle and searched the vehicle. The driver passed the sobriety test and found a legal amount of cannabis which was not seized.

During the search, officers found a taser belonging to the passenger.

Bethanie Johnson is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The 20-year-old was arrested and released with a promise to appear in Lloydminster on November 26.
