Lloydminster RCMP release results of Operation Impact

Lloydminster RCMP are celebrating after a successful Operation Impact.

The excercise was held over the ThanksgivingĀ long weekend, target behaviours the police say are most dangerous – seatbelt use, impaired driving, and all aspects of aggressive and distracted driving. The RCMP pulled over 160 vehicles, and found several violations, including a suspended driver, open liquor in a car, and 2 impaired drivers.

“Police want to remind the public to refrain from drinking and driving, pay attention to the road at all times, put your cell phone down, and always wear your seatbelt,” said Constable Grant Kirzinger. “Statistics have shown that aggressive drivers often engage in a combination of high-risk road use behaviours ā€“ non-use of seat belts, drinking and driving and speeding. The results of these behaviours are often catastrophic for all involved road users.”
