UPDATE: RCMP believe three people involved in a Battlefords death

UPDATE: RCMP Major Crime Unit North and other specialized RCMP units now believe three people are involved in Ryan Gatzke’s murder. 

They also believe that members of the community may know important information to help identify the people involved and determine what led to Gatzke’s death. 


UPDATE: Officers are now treating the death as a homicide.

The victim is 27-year-old Ryan John Gatzke. The RCMP have ordered an autopsy and have notified next of kin.

RCMP are asking anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious around the 100 block of 26th Street West between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. on October 18 to call the RCMP.

Mounties say there is no threat to the public but are looking for any information including unfamiliar vehicles, loud noises or suspicious people or activity.


Battlefords RCMP continues investigation surrounding the death of a man mounties found suspicious.

Officers found the man severely injured at a Battleford home early in the morning on October 18th. An ambulance transferred the victim to a hospital where he later passed away.

Specialized RCMP teams are joining the investigation to find out what led to the male’s death. During the investigation, the RCMP says there will be a heavy police presence around 100 block of 26th Street West in Battleford. 

Mounties say since the investigation in the preliminary stages there are no further details available at this time. More information will be released as it comes in.
