RCMP arrest two after shots fired, car chase in Battlefords

Battlefords RCMP arrests two suspects in an early morning shooting on Friday and a police chase. The two were stopped later in the day after a collision with a vehicle in North Battleford while attempting to escape police.

Mounties responded to a residence that had been hit by the gunfire where no injuries occurred. The home was seized and searched for evidence.

Police say residents of the home refused to cooperate with investigators, instead, neighbours had supplied a description of the suspects getaway vehicle.

RCMP found a vehicle that matched the description of the shooters in Battleford around 2 p.m. The vehicle ran a stop sign, hit into another vehicle and flipped onto their roof during a police chase.

23-year-old Kane Nicotine of St Albert faces 12 charges including possession of a prohibited weapon.  A 17-year-old female from Poundmaker was arrested alongside Nicotine.

The RCMP continues to investigate with further charges anticipated.
