Rosemarie Falk visits local school and talks about politics

Students at École St. Thomas Elementary had a special visitor on Monday.

During the Power and Authority unit in their Social class grade 7 students learn about politics in Canada. Rosemarie Falk, MP of Battlefords – Lloydminster, joined the class and explained what happens at Parliament.

“I had the opportunity to come and speak to the grade 7 class here at St. Thomas and just talk about parliamentary procedural a little bit, what the Parliament Hill is made up of, which is the House of Commons and Senate; and talk a little bit about policy questions they had.”

Anytime a student did not completely understand what Falk was saying they raised their hand to ask a question. They also asked her about the pipeline and to explain Wexit.

“Since being elected in 2017, anywhere I go; if I get to have conversations with teachers, principals or even some school boards, I definitely let them know that I’m open to coming in and speaking with classes; especially when they are doing their government unit. I was actually just at Holy Rosary last week and had a conversation with grade 8.”

Falk is heading to Ottawa later on Monday, but she was happy to make a stop at École St. Thomas Elementary.
