Lakeland College is gearing up for their annual open house.
The Vermilion and Lloydminster campuses will be opening their doors to potential students on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, in an attempt to boost registration. SarahJayne Biglieni, an enrolment specialist with the college says those who attend can register for free.
“They can apply at home, or come on campus and apply for free as well,” Biglieni said. “There will be a promo code once they go on and complete the application. The advantage to doing the application on campus is they get to check out the program and the college as well, and we get to send them home with some Lakeland College goodies for taking the time to come and visit us.”
Biglieni also says that the event often proves useful for attendees.
“It’s definitely an advantage for students to come [and] find out more about the program,” said Biglieni. “Not only are they speaking to their instructors and departments, but they’re actually speaking to students that are in the programs, so they are the ones really giving them that background of what the student’s going to experience once they’re a student at Lakeland College, and that’s usually when they decide ‘OK, Lakeland’s the place for me, this is the program’. So it’s definitely giving them that reassurance and confirmation that they should be applying to Lakeland.”
The campuses will be open between 9 a.m and 3 p.m both days.
