Most producers in the northwest region have finished harvest operations this month, while a few are in need of cooperative weather.
According to Saskatchewan Agriculture, farmers hope to finish harvest in the next couple of weeks, but some crops will have to wait until the spring. The region is reporting around 95 per cent of crops in the bin.
Crop quality has dropped as harvesting has progressed. quality across the region is below average for most crops due to many factors including staining and sprouting.
Topsoil moisture conditions fro cropland and hayland and pasture are mostly around 72 per cent adequate. Hay quality going into winter is rated as 78 per cent good and 22 per cent fair.
Wheat and fall rye acres are reportedly down significantly compared to previous years.
Farmers are busy trying to complete harvest, hauling bales and grain, putting machinery away and finishing up other fall work.
