Lloydminster motorist driving down 59 Avenue will be getting a sweet surprise on Tuesday.
The Lloydminster RCMP will be holding their annual Christmas Checkstop near Fire Hall #2 and Mayor Gerald Aalbers will be once again assisting officers in handing out candy canes to drivers.
Const. Michael Hagel says it’s the time of year where the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment are reminding drivers not to drive impaired and to instead find a safe ride home.
“In the past year, there have been nearly 240 impaired investigations in Lloydminster. This a number that we hope to see decreased.”
The checkstop will be near Fire Hall #2 on 59 Avenue on December 10 and starts at 3:00 p.m.
