Lloydminster ranks as most affordable city for renters

Lloydminster continues to be one of the most affordable cities in the province for renters.

In the December National Rent Report from Rentals.ca, one-bedroom rentals prices went unchanged from last month at $838 a month and two-bedroom rentals increased by $2 at an average of $936. 

The report surveyed 34 Canadian municipalities and Lloydminster listed as the city with the lowest rent.

The average rent for all property types in Alberta dropped in the past month from $1,265 to $1,221 and from $1,102 to $1,031 in Saskatchewan. The average rent for Canadian properties in November 2019 was $1918 per month which was a decrease of 1.1 per cent from the previous month.

Rentals.ca forecasts the average monthly rent to increase by 3 per cent in 2020 across the country. However, for Calgary and Edmonton properties they are forecasting rent to be down by 1 per cent.
