Coronation RCMP on the lookout after cougar sighting

Coronation RCMP are notifying local detachments to be on the lookout after spotting a cougar.

Early in the afternoon of Monday, November 2, the RCMP received a report of the animal near Coronation Hospital. The police found the cougar a short time later, and locked down the school. The cougar was last seen heading west out of town. Alberta Fish and Wildlife were notified, but were unable to arrive before the animal left.

The RCMP have notified nearby detachments, but no further sightings of the animal have been reported.

If anyone sees a wild cougar, they are recommended not to approach it, and notify their local RCMP.
