A Lloydminster conference helping women professionals connect continues to grow after nine years.
Over 300 women attended the 9th annual Inspiring Women Conference on February 6 at the Lloydminster Agriculture Exhibition Centre. Co-organizer Kelly Sidoryk says the conference has steadily grown and this year was their biggest showing yet.
“The growth has been really excellent and we’re so proud of this community that supports us so well.”
The theme of the event was creating and focusing on a vision for the new decade. Headlining the conference was former broadcaster now public speaking coach Carrie Doll.
“She has a podcast called The Inner Circle, which is really excellent, and she was very popular. People really enjoyed her presentation.”
The conference held a panel featuring chuckwagon driver Amber L’Heureux, who made her CPCA debut last season, Leanne Hawes, CEO of Lloydminster & District Co-op, and Bonny Macnab, a local artist and entrepreneur. Sidoryk says it was also very popular among the attendees.
Breakout sessions were also held with people from within the community speaking about social media, financial literacy and health.
“It doesn’t matter whether you own a business or in a career working for somebody else or if you’re a stay-at-home mom, we try and to offer something for all.”
Sidoryk says she and co-organizer Terra Weaver have a vision for the conference of providing opportunities to women where they can network, grow and support each other.
“We need to focus on all the great resources, wisdom and strength we have in our community of Lloydminster. There are challenges but to build strong communities we need to work together, support one another and lift each other up.”
Sidoryk and Weaver have already started planning for next year’s event and have the date set for February 4, 2021.
