COVID-19 precautions lead to event cancellation, postponements in Lloydminster and area

Concerns about the spread of COVID-19 have prompted the postponement or cancellations of several events in Lloydminster and the surrounding area. The provincial government has asked for all public events involving more than 250 people to be cancelled as a measure to manage the coronavirus outbreak.

The Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association (LAEA) is postponing Showcase 2020 previously scheduled for March 27 to 29. The Showcase committee will provide booth refunds in the coming days. The LAEA is also increasing handwashing signage, hand sanitizer dispensers and cleaning of high touch surfaces at their facility.

Lakeland College has cancelled their Donor Appreciation Celebration, Environmental Sciences Info Session, Conference on Environmental Management, Indigenous Awareness Day and Best of the Border. They have postponed the ACAC Futsal Championships and Mary Poppins Jr.

The Lloydminster Family Expo from March 21 to 22 has been cancelled. On social media, organizers say they will try to reschedule the event to a later date.

The Provincial Bantam championships from March 19 to 22 have been cancelled as a part of Hockey Canada’s country-wide cancellation of sanctioned events.

The Lloydminster Learning Council has canceled the remaining Books for Babies classes and are also postponing the Intro to Family Literacy workshop until a later date.

The Kinette Club of Lloydminster has cancelled their Easter Eggstravaganza on March 24.
