Alberta reports first COVID-19 death

Alberta has recorded its first COVID-19 related death.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw says the man was from the Edmonton Zone and in his sixties with underlying conditions.

She says this case appears to have involved community transmission as he had no travel history or close contact with someone who travelled recently.

There were 27 new cases of novel coronavirus confirmed in Alberta from March 18th to 19th, bringing the provincial total up to 146 positive cases out of 16,867 tests.
