Saskatchewan Crop Insurance deadline pushed

Farmers on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster will now have longer to determine what options are best for them.

The new deadline will be April 13th for all changes to a producer’s coverage. This includes applying, renewing or cancelling plans among others.

In a joint statement Monday, Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau and Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit said the move is a response to COVID-19 applying further pressure to agriculture workers.

The government says extending the Crop Insurance deadline gives producers more time to prepare and make decisions regarding all aspects of their business, including risk management.

The Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation can still be reached by email  or over the phone at 888-935-0000. Current customers can also use the Crop Connect website to make changes to their policies.
