City begins 2020 Curbside Pickup Program

Lloydminster has brought back seasonal weekly organics pickup for another year, with some extra precautions added in the wake of COVID-19.

All of the standard rules apply for garbage collection: regular trash in the grey bin, organics in the green and recycles in blue bags. Residents are reminded that all garbage should be bagged (with organics in compostable bags) and that the lid of garbage carts must be fully closed.

To prevent the possible spread of COVID-19, tissues and medical waste like gloves must be put inside a bag and into the waste cart. People who don’t comply will have a sticker placed on the bag, and the issue must be corrected if the items are to be picked up in the next week.

Since Lloydminster began the curbside collection program in April 2013, it has diverted 13,400 tonnes of recycles and compostables from going to the landfill.

A full list of which items go into which bins and a map of the collection route can be found on Lloydminster’s website.
