Hardisty Health Centre Emergency Department temporarily closed

Hardisty residents will see the Emergency Department of their Health Centre close temporarily as a precautionary response to COVID-19 demand.

Starting April 17th, patients arriving at the Emergency will be redirected to other health facilities as appropriate, including the Wainwright Health Centre, Viking Health Centre, Daysland Health Centre and Coronation Health Centre.

Admission to acute care beds will also be temporarily paused at the Hardisty Health Centre. Alberta Health Services says the move is a proactive response to the possibility that more emergency areas are needed to treat COVID-19.

The temporary closures will not impact long term care residencies, diagnostic imaging or laboratory services. These will continue as usual. Patients are encouraged if the situation is not an emergency to get in touch with their doctor or the Primary Care Centre.

AHS says full services at the Hardisty Health Centre will resume after the COVID-19 Pandemic.
