Vermilion company makes Alberta Business Awards of Distinction finals

A Vermilion company has been named as a finalist in the 2020 Alberta Business Awards of Distinction.

Cornerstone Co-op is one of four finalists in the Community Attraction Award. The award recognizes businesses and organizations that have an impact on communities by making them a more attractive place to work, live, visit and play.

General manager Graham Getz says he’s grateful the company has been named a finalist in the awards.

“We’re not only proud but excited that there are tons of amazing things that are happening and all the local businesses in our communities. For us to be a finalist is truly remarkable and we’re truly humbled.”

Cornerstone Co-op operates in eight communities in Alberta including Vermilion, Dewberry and Wainwright. Getz says the category of community attraction fits in the direction the organization is heading towards.

“As a retail co-op having over 30,000 owners we strive every day to make life better in our communities. Getting the recognition of being a finalist, I do believe we are making life better in our communities and making a difference in our members lives.”

Getz says the name Cornerstone Co-op reflects the responsibility of being a cornerstone in the communities they work in.

Lloydminster company BPC Services LTD was nominated in the Small Business Award category but was not one of the finalists. Winners will be announced in the near future.
