One new COVID-19 case in Alberta Central zone, 105 new province-wide

One new active COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Alberta Central zone bringing up the zone total to 77 cases.

The situation remains the same in Lloydminster and surrounding areas with one active case in the MD of Wainwright. Lloydminster and the County of Vermilion River stay at one recovered case each. 

There have been 105 new cases confirmed across the province for a total of 2,908 cases with 1,230 of them considered recovered.

Four deaths were announced in the past 24 hours for a total 59 province-wide. Provincial Public Health Officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw says one of those who died was a worker at the Cargill meat processing plant in High River.

Over 100,000 tests have been completed to date and 9,487 of them done in the Central zone. 

The province also announced new funding to hire more health-care aides, an additional $2 per hour and fast track certification for 1,000 practicum students. In addition, $24.5 million is being advanced to help operators address immediate cost pressures.
