Elk Point RCMP arrest two people for multiple vehicle thefts

Two people have been arrested in connection to stolen vehicles case in the Lakeland area.

Elk Point RCMP located a stolen car that had fled from police once before on April 14. The car fled again and RCMP Air Services tracked the car to a residence in Frog Lake.

Two suspects ran into the residence and later surrendered to police without incident. RCMP obtained a search warrant for the property and found a stolen ATV, car and truck which were reported stolen from Ardmore, Bonnyville and the Frog Lake area.

Both 18-year-old Adam Keegan Smith from Lloydminster and 19-year-old Daiden Desjarlais from Cold Lake were charged with flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possession of property obtained from crime over $5,000.

Smith was also charged with operation while prohibited and failing to comply with release order as he was previously wanted for arrest. Smith is still in custody and will appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on April 23 via CCTV. Desjarlais was released and is expected in St. Paul Provincial Court on July 2.
