Seven deaths, 315 new COVID-19 cases in Alberta

Alberta has reported seven COVID-19 related deaths since Tuesday (April 28) with all of them in continuing care facilities in Calgary and six of them in a single centre.

There have been 87 deaths in the province and 503 confirmed cases in long-term or continuing care facilities. The province has updated their public health orders to include anyone working in a facility, who has even mild symptoms, must be tested and isolated until results come back. All residents in the same unit as a COVID-19 case must also be tested even if they show no symptoms.

There were 315 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta in the last 24 hours raising the total number of cases to 5,165. Of those cases, 1,953 are considered recovered.

In the past day, 5,205 tests were done and over 143,000 tests processed overall.

The AHS is reporting no new cases in the Central zone keeping the total number of cases in the area to 84. There is one active case and one recovery in the County of Vermilion River, one recovery in the MD of Wainwright and one recovery in Lloydminster.
