Onion Lake Cree Nation is cancelling some events due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Onion Lake Cree Nation Treaty Day at Heritage Park, scheduled for June 11th, will not go ahead at the moment. Canada Day celebrations and the Annual Powwow, both slated for July as well, have been cancelled indefinitely.
The Cree Nation says that while this may be disappointing to members, the decision was made with the health and safety of residents and visitors in mind.
A new date for these events has not been announced yet, but Onion Lake Leadership says they will continue to provide information as they receive reports from health officials in both Alberta and Saskatchewan.
