Woman dies after accident near Wainwright

An eighteen year old woman has died as a result of distracted driving near Wainwright. On the evening of July 19th, Wainwright RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Township Road 442 near Range Road 60 where they found a pickup truck in a ditch. Evidence at the scene suggested one tire of the truck went on to the shoulder. When the driver overcorrected, the vehicle lost control. The truck skidded all over the road and ended up rolling over several times before falling into the ditch and hitting a hydro pole. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital in Edmonton, where she died the next day. The RCMP says it appears distracted driving was a factor in the accident, and would like to remind all motorists to constantly remain alert and focused when behind the wheel.
