Street sweeping is underway in the Border City, with crews expected to begin hitting residential areas by next week.
Crews have already been out sweeping the downtown core and the main routes and residential operations are set to begin Monday, May 11th. Residents should expect sweepers to be out from 6 AM to 10 PM Monday to Friday, after which crews will move to other areas through the night.
Sweeping patterns will follow the same route as curbside collection, and people should not park on the streets when crews are moving through. They will be warned with signs at least 36 hours beforehand. If the signs stay up over the weekend, people can park on the road again but must be off by Monday so that sweeping can continue.
People can also help by putting out waste and organics carts after 7 p.m. the day before pick up and have them removed by 7 p.m. the same day of the pickup. Drivers are being urged to be cautious around street sweepers, and give at least eight meters safe distance from the equipment.
Street sweeping updates can be found on the city’s website and social media channels.
