The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Meadow Lake Hospital after a staff member tested positive for the virus.
An outbreak is called when at least one case is found at a facility. Currently, the staff member is the only person to have tested positive for COVID, and it is linked to community transmission.
To date, no patients have tested positive. This staff member and any close contact are on fourteen-day self-isolation, and additional contact tracing is underway.
At this time, there is no disruption to service at Meadow Lake Hospital. Key emergency department, emergency surgical and obstetrical services are still ongoing, but this may change based on health officials’ assessment of the situation there.
People are reminded to continue healthy habits to contain COVID-19, including physical distancing, proper hygiene and following health guidelines.
