Lloyd Hospital unlikely to re-open on same timeline as other SHA facilities

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says the Lloydminster Hospital will likely begin to re-offer services at a later time than the rest of the province.

Health Officials have previously announced that medical facilities across the province would begin re-offering services on May 19th, but it was not clear at that time if Lloydminster Hospital would be among them, due to the recent COVID-19 cluster found there.

On May 7th, another health care worker was confirmed as having COVID-19, and another case was found connected to close contact transmission from that person. All health care workers who have been identified as close contacts with a confirmed case are being tested as the contact investigation continues.

Guidelines set in place April 30th, including the moving patients into separate units in the hospital, redirecting non-COVID patients to other facilities and visitor restrictions all remain in effect.

Emergency department, emergency surgical and obstetrical services are all still available at Lloydminster Hospital.

An ongoing risk assessment by public health and the Medical Health Officer will determine when the Lloydminster Hospital services may resume as normal.
