Eleven more recoveries, one new COVID-19 case in Saskatchewan

The latest Saskatchewan Health numbers show another day with only one new COVID-19 case and several recoveries.

As of May 17th, the only new case reported in the last 24 hours is in the Far North region. In total, active cases are now at 142 out of 592 reported. There have also been eleven more confirmed recoveries, bringing the total since the outbreak began to 444. This means three-quarters of all confirmed cases have now recovered. In the North Zone, the latest numbers show twelve active cases and 96 recoveries from the disease.

Hospital numbers are also on the decrease, with five overall. One patient in Regina and one in Saskatoon are receiving inpatient care, while three remain in the ICU in Saskatoon.

Of the 592 cases in the province, 139 cases are travel-related, 320 are community contacts, 68 have no known exposure and 65 are under investigation by local public health.

In total, 40,806 COVID-19 tests have been performed since the outbreak began.
